So I'm finally getting back into The Sims 2 and already I've accidentally killed Jennifer Burb.

After playing the later games for so long, I forgot how easy it was to have a fire start. Conveniently enough, I also forgot to place a fire alarm in the kitchen, which led to poor Jennifer burning to death in front of John, Lucy and the private school headmaster she'd been cooking a meal for.

I was disappointed at first, but I've actually been having more fun playing the Burbs now than I initially had – minus the fact that all John does is sleep and cry. At first, they felt like quite a boring family without any drama and I wasn't sure what to do with them, apart from have more children since John wants six.

Speaking of, Jennifer had just gotten pregnant when she died, although she didn't know.

As morbid as it seems though, I'm actually having a lot of fun with this family, apart from Jennifer's ghost being adamant on scaring Lucy every chance she gets. Lucy's a teen now and she's pretty much taking care of herself, while her dad mourns. She's also got a bolt of chemistry with one of her friends from school, Tara, so I'm looking forward to seeing where that might go next.

I'm really excited to be getting into The Sims 2, so I apologise in advance for how much I'm gonna rant about it. I also wanna know what could be fun to do with the Burbs next! Or any of the families for that matter, I love reading about how people play premade families so please let me know how you do! <3

The Burb family is a pre-made family from Old Town in The Sims: Unleashed, Pleasantview in The Sims 2, as well as Dragon Valley from The Sims 3 Store.

In The Sims: Unleashed, the Burbs are a family living at 63 Gunther Goth Highway in Old Town, living a 1950s lifestyle. The family members are Brad, Tiffany, their son Johnny, and Tucker, the family dog. In The Sims 2, the Burbs are a family found in the family bin in Pleasantview. At the start of the game, there are three members in the family; Johnny, who is now known as John, Jennifer, and their child Lucy. Jennifer is the sister of Daniel Pleasant, and they are both the children of Diane and Jeff Pleasant from the original Sims game.

The Burbs started out new to the town. In The Sims: Unleashed, the Burbs moved to Old Town because Brad is tired of the city, while Tiffany is not. In The Sims 2, John, who had married Jennifer and had one child, Lucy, moved back to Pleasantview. It's possible that, after his father died, he and his mother (along with Jennifer and Lucy) moved to the city, and decided to return to their hometown after Tiffany's death.

John, a Family Sim, will have wants to do things such as stay at home, help Lucy with homework, and learn to cook, while Jennifer, a Fortune Sim, will want to get a job, get promoted, and make more friends. It is recommended to keep their aspiration meters high and make sure Jennifer gets a job and John does not get a job so he can take care of Lucy. That is an easy way to make money for the family, and at the same time not have to pay for a nanny.

• In The Sims: Unleashed, the family name is Perez in Spanish, while in The Sims 2, it's Clavel. The surname might confuse the Spanish players with the Clavell family.
• In The Sims 2, it's said that the family moved out from a fast-paced city, while in The Sims 3 they appear in Dragon Valley, a medieval town. It is possible that they moved to a city after leaving Dragon Valley.
