This issue occurs because the virtual disk repair utility ( vmware-vdiskmanager) in Fusion 3.1 and Workstation 7.1 does not work as expected. To resolve this issue, you must upgrade to the latest version of Fusion / Workstation, or use the utility from Fusion 3.0.2 / Workstation 7.0.1.
